Dr. Zareen Karani Araoz

Dr. Zareen Karani Araoz is President of Managing Across Cultures, a consulting firm, specializing in training, coaching and developing Senior Executives who lead global collaborations, build cross-border teams and manage cultural transitions. Dr. Araoz comes originally from India, is based in the US and India , and has consulted in 20+ countries in Asia, Europe and Latin America. She specializes in helping global executives work more effectively in various countries, and especially to collaborate with India.

Dr. Araoz founded Managing Across Cultures in India in 1982 and in Boston in 1985. She is mainly Boston-based, but spends several months based in India and traveling. She is known as a pioneer in the cross-cultural management community in the Boston area and is called on as valued consultant/ coach/ speaker/ trainer with leading corporations and Universities in the greater Boston area.

Besides her in depth experience in developing executives and finding solutions to people issues in organizations, Dr. Araoz has been a management educator in the US, India and Europe. Dr. Araoz was invited to be the Director of a pioneering Business School (MBA Institute and Global Business School) in India in 2010. In the US, she was a pioneering Professor and the Head of the Department of Intercultural Relations and International Studies at Lesley University, where she led, developed and established a unique graduate program, with specializations in Intercultural Management and Cross-cultural Training, amongst others. She was also a Professor in Intercultural Management at the School for International Training.

Dr. Zareen Karani Araoz has taught Cross-Cultural Management, Communicating Across Cultures, Collaborating across Cultures, and Global Project Management to leaders in business executive programs in the US, India and Sweden. She has been an invited Guest Lecturer in Business Schools in Japan, Sweden and Latin America, besides the US and India, where she was Faculty at the respected Symbiosis Institute of Management and the Institute of Management Development and Research, teaching Organizational Behavior, Communication and Cross-cultural Management.

Dr. Zareen Karani Araoz helps global executives develop new insights about current global trends that affect their businesses, as well as reflect on their management and communication styles, and also better understand the teams they are managing. She helps them gain meaningful insights into the work culture of the country they are entering or working with. Dr. Zareen Karani Araoz was recently invited to be a Delegate on President Obama’s Executive Mission to India, as one of the 200 CEOs on the US-India Business Council Delegation. Dr. Araoz has been a very popular speaker in 22+ countries, including for industry organizations like NASSCOM, ASTD, TIE, PBD, CII and at the UN and others. She is a Coach with Coach Source and Cambria Consulting. In addition to being a coach, Dr. Araoz has also been a trainer, who helps collaborative ventures to function significantly more effectively.

Dr. Zareen Karani Araoz has been a Visiting Professor/ Guest Lecturer at Universities and business Schools in Sweden, India, the US, Japan, Latin America and other countries. She was an invited columnist for the Times of India on-line Ascent as a Gyan Guru (Knowledge Guru) on Leadership. Dr. Araoz can also train and coach in the German Language, and has facilitated the interface of Germans and Indian teams. She has been consulting in Sweden and Swedish Business Schools on a regular basis. She has been an invited lecturer or conducted workshops at almost all the Universities in Sweden every year from 1983 to 1993, and then again from 2001 till 2005.

Dr. Zareen Karani Araoz holds a Law Degree (LL.B.), two Master's Degrees (German, Literature and Comparative Education), a Ph.D. (in Cross-cultural Counseling Psychology), and a German Teacher's Diploma.

Dr. Araoz was given the NRI Institute Award for outstanding contributions to the image of India abroad.
